The Dr Beth Blackall Memorial Prize
Council in April 1997 established a fund from which a grant and medal would be awarded annually to the student presenting a dissertation of excellence which is also the best at graduate level. The first award was made in 1998.
The Prize marks the contribution made to the SCD by Dr Bettina (Beth) Mary Blackall who died on 7 June, 1996. Dr Blackall’s understandings of the processes of higher education were invaluable when advising on the development of an appropriate infrastructure for the SCD. Her involvement with all of our Member Institutions and her sensitivity to their histories, their traditions and their confessional stances, reflected her ecumenical approach to theological education.
The SCD Council reserves the right not to make this award in any year.
